Why Hike Grand View Point

The Island in the Sky mesa in Canyonlands National Park soars over 1,000-ft. above the surrounding terrain. This short, scenic hike travels along the mesa’s rim to its southern tip, offering spectacular panoramic views of Monument Basin, the canyons formed by the Colorado and Green River, the Needles and Maze Districts of Canyonlands and, in the distance, the Abajo, La Sal and Henry Mountains. The hike is well worth the time and effort for anyone visiting the Island in the Sky district of the park.
